Invisalign 5 key benefits 2023

Is 2023 the Year for Invisalign? 5 Key Benefits

Do you have crooked teeth? Perhaps your teeth are overcrowded or misaligned to the point that you don’t even like smiling. In years gone by, your only solution would have been to wear braces, which, frankly, a lot of people dislike. Fortunately, there’s a modern treatment called Invisalign, which uses removable, invisible braces to help correct misaligned teeth.

Here’s everything you need to determine whether Invisalign treatment is right for you.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a dental treatment that can be considered cosmetic, however, it can also help you avoid serious dental issues in the future. Essentially, we’re talking about invisible braces. So many people are concerned about having traditional braces because they are obvious, and there are also concerns about eating and keeping them hygienic. Invisalign solves these issues.

Invisalign uses clear aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. They fit snugly over your teeth and are almost invisible. In addition, the aligners are easily removable, which solves another problem with traditional braces.

Over a pre-determined period, Invisalign helps to move teeth to their desired position, just like normal braces. But the treatment is usually much faster, and definitely more hassle-free.

How does Invisalign treatment work?

In consultation with your dentist, an Invisalign treatment plan will be developed, and it may look a little different for each patient. First, 3D imaging is used to examine your existing teeth positions. From there, your first Invisalign aligner is created. You’ll wear this aligner for around two weeks and then return to your dentist for a new one.

This is because each aligner is designed to subtly change the position of your teeth. Every two weeks, your teeth will have slightly moved, so a new aligner is provided to gradually move them a little further. Ultimately, each aligner moves your teeth incrementally until they reach the desired position.

Treatments can take as little as four months or up to around 12 months.

Benefits of Invisalign

There are plenty of reasons why people choose Invisalign as a way to correct teeth over-crowding, misaligned teeth or crooked teeth. Here are just some of the benefits.

Discreet dental solution

In years gone by, if you wanted straighter teeth, the most common solution was wearing braces. While braces are still used very effectively today, they aren’t the preferred treatment for many people. Traditional braces need to be worn for a long period of time, and of course, they are very conspicuous. In fact, many people avoid even going to the dentist because they’re worried about having braces.

Invisalign solves this issue, as the clear aligners are much less visible to the naked eye. In fact, some people refer to them as contact lenses for teeth, because they are near invisible. If you’re concerned about the issues that standard braces might cause, Invisalign represents a faster and more comfortable treatment.

Quicker solution

In general terms, traditional braces may need to be worn for up to two years. For many people, this is far too long, and that’s why Invisalign is a popular alternative. Not only is Invisalign less conspicuous, but treatments are often much faster. Most Invisalign treatments are finished within 12 months, and often less. Naturally, this depends on the extent of the correction required, but many people enjoy the faster results offered by Invisalign.

State-of-the-art technology

Invisalign is certainly considered to be an advancement on traditional braces. Of course, there are the reasons we’ve already touched on, but most impressive is the custom design. Invisalign aligners look a little bit similar to teeth-whitening trays, but they are much more comfortable. 3D technology is used to first assess your teeth alignment, and then to create a custom-fit aligner for your teeth.

Because you’ll change aligners frequently, every new aligner is developed to suit your treatment plan, gradually moving teeth into a straighter position. Also, the aligners are easily removable, which is another step up on the technology offered by traditional braces.

Boost confidence

Another reason to choose Invisalign is to get your confidence back. Any type of dental treatment should be primarily focused on your oral health, however, Invisalign is so great because it addresses health issues and also aesthetic issues.

If you’re afraid of smiling because you don’t like your teeth, there is always something you can do about it in consultation with your Parramatta dentist. Once you’ve finished your Invisalign treatment, your teeth will be straighter and your smile even more stunning. So, you’ll be able to laugh and smile without ever worrying about hiding your teeth.

Avoid expensive dental procedures

While Invisalign treatment isn’t necessarily cheap, it is considered an excellent preventative dental treatment for a number of conditions. If you have misaligned teeth, this can lead to a range of oral health problems if left untreated. We often talk about having a beautiful smile you can be confident with, but your dental health is even more important.

Your Parramatta dentist is the best expert to ask about Invisalign because every patient is different. However, using Invisalign earlier rather than later may prevent over-crowded teeth and other conditions that can be expensive to address later in life.

Is Invisalign right for everyone?

The good news is that Invisalign is usually suited to anybody over the age of 14. However, like anything, there are a few exceptions. Ultimately the decision will be made between you and your dentist, but some existing conditions may make Invisalign unsuitable for you.

These conditions include severe deterioration of teeth, complex extrusions or issues with previously removed teeth. The best thing to do is speak to your dentist to find out if you are eligible for treatment.
