When it comes to replacing missing teeth, there are a few options available and one of these options are dental implants. A dental implant is basically an artificial tooth root that is submerged into the jawbone, with a tooth-like crown attached to it. Advancements and extensive research on dental implants have made them a very viable and more readily available option for a lot of patients. As with any form of treatment, assessment for suitability is important to determine if this is a suitable treatment option, or if we need to look at different approaches to replace missing teeth. A dental implant is fabricated from a very strong, bio-compatible material placed in a simple procedure. Our patients have described the procedure as being more pleasant than a tooth extraction. The procedure will be discussed in detail at your next appointment at Dental Avenue Parramatta, but the brief of it is that a titanium implant fixture is submerged into the jawbone, left in place for a predetermined amount of time, and then a measurement of the implant and natural teeth is taken. This measurement allows a dental laboratory to fabricate a life-like crown that is then attached to the implant fixture
