What to look forward to with Invisalign
Braces aren’t just for kids anymore. An increasing number of adults are getting help with their orthodontics and deliberately investing in their teeth and smile.
Braces themselves have come a long way. You’re no longer restricted to a mouthful of railway lines. You can choose coloured braces that compliment your style, or even your eyes. The wire part of the braces remains a sparkling silver, but you can colour code your elastic bands to put a little rainbow in your smile.
If you prefer a more subtle approach, install braces that can’t be seen at all. Invisalign is becoming increasingly popular because they’re removable, so they’re not as obtrusive as conventional braces. Also, they’re completely see-through, so no one can tell you’re even wearing braces. Since they are precisely fitted, they won’t affect how you talk – and if they do you’ll adjust to them in a couple of days – or change the way you smile.
Unlike regular braces that are worn non-stop for one two years, you can remove Invisalign whenever you need to eat, drink, brush, or floss. They are gentler than regular braces, so they won’t scratch or irritate your mouth. They’re also easier to use since they don’t need special care or brushing. Just remove them as needed and put them back in afterwards.
Invisalign braces are worn for two weeks at a time before you replace them with your next set. As you switch between sets, your dentist in Parramatta will check on the progress of your teeth and advise you accordingly. In total, you will be in braces for about one year.
Once you start wearing Invisalign, you will feel your teeth getting a little tighter as they are moulded into shape. Although each set is worn for just a couple of weeks, you will probably visit our dental clinics in Parramatta once a month or so. We review every six to eight weeks and give you enough Invisalign sets to hold you until your next appointment.
Invisalign is tasteful and subtle, so while embarrassed tweens may prefer it to a traditional set of braces, they work better on older teenagers and young adults. The growing dental formula of a 10 or 12-year-old may not benefit as much from them.
Once your Invisalign braces are taken out, you can enjoy the confidence of a bright smile and a great set of teeth. You will no longer have to remember to take your braces off during meals, though you will probably be so used to the habit that you’ll do it anyway.
Be prepared for a few comical moments of trying to remove your non-existent braces. And it’s all the funnier because even when you had them, they couldn’t be seen, so to anyone watching, you’ll still be fiddling with invisible tooth accessories.
